Phu Bia Mining owns and operates two award winning operations – Phu Kham Copper-Gold and Ban Houayxai Gold-Silver, both located in Xaisomboun Province, 120km north of Vientiane.     This is a unique time to join the Phu Bia Mining team. Site-based employees work a roster of 20 days on, 8 days off; 9 days on, 5 days off; or 14 days on, 7 days off for shift work, while Vientiane – based employees work 5 days per week with 2 days off. Reporting to the Senior MM Underground Specialist, UG Maintenance Technician - Mechanical will play a key role in assembling, installing, maintaining, and repairing heavy mechanical equipment and machinery used in underground mining operations. This is a critical role of mechanical fitter keeps production running safely and efficiently   Your responsibilities will include:   Maintenance & Repairs: Perform scheduled and breakdown maintenance on underground mobile plant and fixed equipment — including loaders (LHDs), haul trucks, drill rigs, bolters, conveyors, pumps, shotcrete machine and ventilation systems.  Fault Diagnosis: Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic system faults using diagnostic tools and maintenance manual   Component Overhaul: inspect, rebuild, and replace major components such as engines, transmissions, differentials, hydraulic cylinders, and final drives.  Welding & Fabrication: Carry out oxy/acetylene cutting, arc welding, and basic fabrication work as required  Safety & Compliance: Adhere strictly to PBM procedure, permit-to-work systems, isolation procedures, and lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) requirements.  Documentation: Complete maintenance records, job safety analyses (JSAs), and shift report accurately.  To be successful in this role, you will require:   Experience as a Mechanical Fitter or in heavy equipment maintenance within mining, construction, or a related industry. Strong knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and diesel engine systems, with the ability to diagnose and repair equipment faults. Experience working with heavy mobile equipment such as Caterpillar, Komatsu, Fambition, Yantai Xingye, SDLG, Kaishan, or similar. Ability to read and interpret maintenance manuals and technical drawings. Valid driver's licence and the ability to work safely in an underground mining environment.
